Herbert Nelson - Life Member d. June 7, 1994
Herbert W. Nelson grew up in Chehalis and Olympia before attending the University of Washington where he earned his degree in civil engineering. While at UW he joined an Amry Reserve Unit, and in World War II served in England and France and in the Army of Occupation in Germany.
Upon returning to Seattle in 1947 he worked as a reinforcing steel detailer for many yeas. In 1968 he formed his own company, Nelson Rebar Services, which he operated until retiring in 1972. His work included the construction of many buildings in the US, primarily on the West Coast and in Hawaii.
He joined SEAW in 1957, and also held membership in the American Concrete Institute.
